Sniper Elite V2 is a third-person shooter and tactical shooter and stealth game, which features semi-realistic gameplay, stunning graphics and a very in depth customisation system. It was released on February 14th 2012 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC platforms. Sniper Elite V2 is also available in Spanish (Spain) (Español (España)), French (France), German (Germany), Italian (Italy), Polish, Russian, Turkish languages. The game released to mostly positive reviews with some complaints about the difficulty of the game's stealth mechanics being too unforgiving. It received a Metacritic score of 88/100 and a GameRankings score of 84.33% and 84.88%, respectively.
Sniper Elite V2 features fourteen missions, in which players take on the role of an elite sniper during the World War II era. The campaign takes place in four different locations such as Italy, Norway, France and Yugoslavia (Macedonia). Players will face many types of enemies such as regular soldiers, spies, snipers and other specialized troops such as paratroopers and mountain troops. German troops will be armed with the standard issue Karabiner 98k bolt-action rifle while Soviet troops will rely on the Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 bolt-action rifle. Italian troops are armed with the Carcano Model 1891 bolt-action rifle. The Yugoslavian resistance are armed with the German Mauser 98 bolt-action rifle or captured Italian Carcano Model 1891 rifles. Players are equipped with sniper weapons such as the Karabiner 98k and Mosin-Nagant M91/30 and also modern day sniper and assault rifles such as the Kalashnikov, Steyr AUG and SIG SG 550. The game features a realistic ballistics system that takes into account factors such as distance to target, bullet travel time, bullet drop due to gravity, windage and other environmental conditions such as air density and temperature. The world of Sniper Elite V2 is fully destructible allowing players to manipulate the environment in order to get the upper hand on enemies. Players are able to take friendly fire or even friendly targets into consideration when aiming or firing their weapons. Each weapon has its own distinct behaviour which varies from weapon to weapon. The game features a variety of gadgets including but not limited to telescopic sights, night vision goggles, signal mirrors, mobile phones and flares. Players are able use sniper rifles such as the Karabiner 98k and Mosin-Nagant M91/30 with non-lethal ammunition such as an Uzi SMG, Type 100 rifle grenades and Incendiary shells against enemy troops during stealth missions. The game features three difficulty levels (Realistic, Practical and Simulation) that affect the enemies AI, reaction times and how much damage they can sustain before falling down. The game also features a variety of multiplayer game modes which includes 4 player co-op missions, 8 player competitive shootouts and 12 player free for all matches. Players can enjoy various game modes such as team deathmatch , mission-based objectives, sabotage missions , domination missions , capture the flag missions , assassination missions and a VIP escort missions . These multiplayer maps offer a variety of gameplay including close quarter heavy engagements, long range sniping to close range shotgun assaults.
